I need...

...this t-shirt

(which is availalbe from here)

Anyway, I thought I needed to add that. In other news, the dreaded novel (tm) is FINISHED! Ahem. Finished, complete with synopsis and covering letter, and is being dropped on the unwilling desks of unsuspecting agents. Naturally I'll keep you posted as to if anything exciting is going on there.

I'll leave you with a video of the late lamented Peter Steele being his usual intelligent, funny self on Jerry Springer and, gosh, he was handsome wasn't he?

Fun links

More links! You know, one of these days I'll post something that involves me actually creating something myself, honest I will, but in the mean time here's some utterly unrelated ephemera from the wonderful world of the web.

Gamestation now own 7500 people's souls

Gang of Four are releasing a new album, but in the mean time they're posting original versions of lyrics that they found in boxes (and now I have Anthrax in my head and that's something I don't wanna catch... Sorry, I'll stop that.)

Somebody's made tank limos. Tank limos! Why did these not exist when I had to go to that prom thing at school?

A German horror channel has the best stationery in existence

And last off, I'm not sure whether this is cool or just a little bit too trendy-trendy, but here's a tutorial for lace nails. I might have a go anyway... though I'm thinking of maybe layering the lace with a nice contrasting colour...?

I'll leave you with a little something in memory of Peter Steele, lead singer of  Type O Negative. When I heard yesterday that he had died I was willing it to be another one of their delightfully tasteless hoaxes, but sadly this time it's true. He was only 48.

Crafty fashion links

Lots of wearable craft links today, folks.

First up, there are some dead simple and effective gothy tutorials over at Antimony. Some are a little on the kitsch side but with a little thought and the right fabric, any goth wardrobe can be catered for. Perfect stuff for beginners.

I've been looking at a lot of trashion blogs this week, and I'm really warming to the movement; it has a DIY ethic that to me is pure 70s punk and could so easily be twisted to fit any style. Anyway, Outsapop has a brilliant tutorial for shreadding T-shirts with very deathrocky results. Or how about turning some old jumpers into a glam-rock lightning bolt jumper? Or turning a plain t-shirt into a knotty lattice one? (The only downside to that one is that those were very "in" recently. Beware of being mistaken for "hip"!) There's also a tutorial for fusing plastic to fabric which has endless possibilities although the results don't last long. If you prefer a more romantic look, here's a tute for turning a shirt into a peasant's blouse style top. Last up isn't really a tutorial but with a dress pattern and some fabric, you could easily have a go at making this cage dress. By the looks of things, fashion models seem not to wear an awful lot underneath them, but I'm imagining a Steampunk/Victorian-industrial style outfit with it; it does look rather like crinoline.

And just because I'll forget to post them otherwise, here's a couple of items you might want to save your money for: this gorgeous chained ear-cuff and, completely unrelated, retractable fangs. I'm not really into the "disappearing fangs" thing in vampire movies, but these could be all sorts of subversive fun when out and about.

That's your lot for today. Now I really must get to bed.

Some links and online trinkets

Alright, I've been abusing this blog for work related stuff too much, so to reward you for your patience, here's some odds and ends I've found across the interwebs lately.

First up, you've probably seen these if you follow any of the gothier blogs about but the talented chap behind Ravensblight has a wonderful collection of paper toys to download and play with. I really must make some of these. Also in "things I need to make" the new issue of Anticraft is up and full of beautiful things. I'm quite smitten with the tatting pattern myself, I've not tried tatting before.

In "things to entertain", there are two new (and highly inappropriate) Foamy the Squirrel cartoons up. Far more worksafe is this charming animated short made on a shoestring by two impossibly talented animators.

I'm fairly sure I had some more links lined up, but I appear to have mislaid them, so for now, I'll finish with a wonderfully scary picture that turned up on my deviantart watched list today. It's by one of my favourite deviantartists, supersheep aka Michael Brack, who creates the most terrifying images I've ever seen.

More interesting ephemera coming as soon as I find where I filed it away to.

Things Involving Me - Theatre special

We're half-way through our run at the Kings Theatre and so far it's been going very well. We had two charmingly positive reviews and only a handful of minor crises over costumes, broken props, wonky musicians, fluffed lines and missing children. All the usual nonsense. And considering we have a real gun on stage at the end, that's impressive (bear in mind that two of our cast have managed to cut their fingers open on plastic prop knives, that's quite an achievement.)

Anyway, since it's my job to promote the show until my fingers fall off, I thought I'd post a couple of the lovely photographs we had taken at our dress rehearsal. Enjoy!

I'm not entirely sure which scenes these are from, I haven't yet managed to see the show from anywhere other than the flies.
The Jets
...and the Sharks

And you can see them be amazing until Saturday at the Kings Theatre in Southsea. Phone 02392 828282 and get yourself some tickets.

PS Sorry for the blog hijack chaps. Normal service will resume shortly.
